Reveal Thyself

O Lord of my ancient heart,
Thou art my soul’s journey start
Why I fully believe in Thyself
Thou believe ever in myself
Thou trust in me, you pardoned
Thou care for me, gave me parents
Thou wish to teach, sent me a Guru
Thou want me evolve, led me to problems
Thou want me feel, sent someone to love
Thou do not want me to know Thyself?
Why do Thou hide behind my thoughts?
Only I seek Thee to see only Thee…
End my thoughts, don’t send me thoughts
I await Thou to reveal Thyself
For me, in me, as me…..

Three buddies die in a car crash, and they find themselves at the pearly gates.
They are all asked, "When you are in your casket and friends and
family are mourning upon you, what would you like to hear them say
about you?

The first guy says, "I would like to hear them say that I was the greatest doctor of my time, and a great family man."

The second guy says, "I would like to hear that I was a wonderful husband and school teacher who made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow."

The last guy replies, "I would like to hear them say... LOOK!!! HE'S MOVING!!!!!"

A wise old gentleman retired and purchased a modest home near a junior high school.

He spent the first few weeks of his retirement in peace and contentment. Then a new school year began. The very next afternoon three young boys, full of youthful, after-school enthusiasm, came down his street, beating merrily on every trashcan they encountered. The crashing percussion continued day after day, until finally the wise old man decided it was time to take some action.

The next afternoon, he walked out to meet the young percussionists as they banged their way down the street. Stopping them, he said, "You kids are a lot of fun. I like to see you express your exuberance like that. In fact, I used to do the same thing when I was your age. Will you do me a favor? I'll give you each a dollar if you'll promise to come around every day and do your thing." The kids were elated and continued to do a bang-up job on the trashcans.

After a few days, the old-timer greeted the kids again, but this time he had a sad smile on his face.

"This recession's really putting a big dent in my income," he told them. "From now on, I'll only be able to pay you 50 cents to beat on the cans."

The noisemakers were obviously displeased, but they did accept his offer and continued their afternoon ruckus. A few days later, the wily retiree approached them again as they drummed their way down the street.

"Look," he said, "I haven't received my Social Security check yet, so I'm not going to be able to give you more than 25 cents. Will that be okay?"

"A lousy quarter?" the drum leader exclaimed. "If you think we're going to waste our time, beating these cans around for a quarter, you're nuts! No way, mister. We quit!"

And the old man enjoyed peace.

Living Knowledge

All knowledge is mere collection of letters
Speech is greater than letters
Mind is greater than speech
Intention is greater than mind
Intelligence is greater than intention
Attention is greater than intelligence
Understanding is greater than attention
Strength is greater than understanding
Food is greater than strength
Water is greater than food
Fire is greater than water
Space is greater than fire
Memory is greater than space
Hope is greater than memory
Life force is greater than hope…….
Revere the presence of Life in everything…this is the greatest knowledge!
(Inspiration from Chandogya Upanishad)

A pipe burst in a doctor's house. He called a plumber. The plumber arrived, unpacked his tools, did mysterious plumber-type things for a while, and handed the doctor a bill for $600.

The doctor exclaimed, "This is ridiculous! I don't even make that much as a doctor!."

The plumber quietly answered, "Neither did I when I was a doctor."

Light Up Someone!

When light is brought, where darkness go?
if goes somewhere, indeed it is real!
if goes not, it is mightier than light!
Darkness is neither real nor mighty
its presence is just absence of light….
in its spread, there is no vision or sight
So is the darkness of ignorance
it is neither real nor truly mighty
in its spell, there is no vision of life
Ego, its ruler alone reigns high…

Just single lamp kindled so well
dispels darkness and all its spell
Wisdom of Truth, dispelling ignorance
in the inner light, there is love without ego
action without arrogance, smile without reason….
What a sight would be the row of lights?
it is Deepavali, the festival of lights
each lamp lit with help of someone
One for everyone, everyone for one
light up someone, everyone, one by one
leaving none, you will certainly win!

A lawyer opened the door of his BMW, when suddenly a car came along and hit the door, ripping it off completely. When the police arrived at the scene, the lawyer was complaining bitterly about the damage to his precious BMW.

"Officer, look what they've done to my Beemer!" he whined.

"You lawyers are so materialistic, you make me sick!" retorted the officer, "You're so worried about your stupid BMW, that you didn't even notice that your left arm was ripped off!"

"Oh my god", replied the lawyer, finally noticing the bloody left shoulder where his arm once was, "Where's my Rolex!"

Powerful Wealth of Knowledge

Three most esteemed gifts of life are
Knowledge, Wealth as well the Power
Demand of wealth is of knowledge lower
command over wealth and power is the higher
Wealth of knowledge is greatest wealth
wealth without knowledge indeed sheer filth
Power of knowledge is mightier than sword
stronger than steel, sharper than diamond
Richest are the divine abodes of God
they are built with bricks of love for lord
Seeking only wealth and power is way of witless
recognized the seers, the intelligent and wise
gave the form for higher knowledge as Saraswaty
    ever-flowing, Unseen River, enriching humanity
Wealth meant for all is the form of Lakshmi
on unattached lotus, so is harmless money!
Powerful and daring is the form of Shakti
strength to kill ego and make our life healthy
Navaratri reminds us through nine holy nights
to surpass darkness by the embrace of wisdom light!

A lawyer defending a man accused of burglary tried a creative defense to get his client off the hook. "My client merely inserted his arm into the window and removed a few paltry items. His arm is not himself, so I fail to see how you can punish the whole individual for an offense committed solely by his arm."

"Well put," the judge replied with a grin. "Using that same logic, I sentence the defendant's arm to one year's imprisonment. Your client can accompany the arm or not, as he chooses."

The defendant smiled. With his lawyer's help, he detached his artificial limb, laid it on the bench and walked out.

Sermon in Silence

In the midst of assembled Rishis of the forest
was seated Rama with his resplendent face.
Eager to know about Rama
wives of the Rishis inquired Sita
as to who her husband among them was
Denying each one as ‘not him, not him’
when finally pointed out to Rama,
she hung her head and remained silent……
eloquent and most profound was the silence
Vedas, while teaching us about
the nature of Brahman do the same…..
denying all that we experience
as ‘not this, not this’…
finally reaching the undeniable Self,
remain profoundly, eloquently silent!
====================================Quote
Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it's all over. - Gloria Naylor

The teacher said; “Take a pencil and paper, and write an essay with the title ‘If I Were a Millionaire.’” Everyone but Jay, who leaned back with arms folded, began to write feverishly.

“What’s the matter,” the teacher asked. “Why don’t you begin?”

“I’m waiting for my secretary,” Jay replied.

Response-ability

Dharma is both choice and responsibility
If choice, love is first and commitment is later;
If responsibility, commitment first and love is later
Krishna in Gita, advised Arjun his responsibility
through it to develop love for God
In developing love for god,
Arjuna recognized the inevitability of his dharma
Hence Krishna offered him choice later
   यथा इच्छसि तथा कुरु  – do as per your choice!
So also in our life….
When we don’t have love for god, work is burden
and responsibilities appear as choiceless encumbrances
When we develop of innocent love for God
we discover the inevitability of work
Out of choice we can commit to our dharma, willingly!
serving with smile, leaving aside personal prejudices....

One's philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes... and the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility. - Eleanor Roosevelt

Mr. Marlow was strolling through the country when he saw a stable with the most beautiful horse he ever laid eyes on. It was seventeen hands high and white, with rippling muscles and a fine, flowing mane. Mr. Marlow struck a deal to buy it from the owner who did, however, pass on one key piece of information.

"We are a religious family, Mr.Marlow, and we've instilled those values in our horse. To get him to gallop you must say 'Thanks God' to get him to stop you must say 'Our Father Who Art in Heaven,"

Settling into the saddle, Marlow said " Thanks God," and the animal took off. They rode for miles; suddenly they were coming up to a cliff. Unfortunately, Marlow couldn't remember the phrase to make the animal stop and tried every Biblical passage he could think of until, just a few feet from the edge of the cliff, he shouted,
" Our Father Who Art in Heaven!"
The animal stopped instantly. Shaking and perspiring, Marlow reached into his pocket and pulled out a handkerchief.
"Thanks God," he said as he mopped his brow...
